Explore the realm of sculpting an empty space with light fusing all elements of design to form a new parallel

"There resides always a certain `spell power' in any geometric form, which ... is, as we say, the soul of the thing ... as for instance: the circle, infinity; the triangle, structural unity; the spire, aspiration; the spiral, organic process; the square, integrity." 1932

Frank Lloyd Wright always believed that architecture was the master art form. The art form that subordinated all others, that brought all aesthetic experiences together within one space and in creating that space merged a spiritual unity in which both form and function could coexist. His vision was of a beauty that would form by two correlated existences; Nature and the Self and which would transform over time bringing them together under one building.
Our space in the contemporary home has become a quintessential multi-purpose space. It carries the burden of our stylistic and decorative aspirations. It must look good enough to satisfy our own desire for personal expression – style being a very important issue.

Understanding the way shapes take form and in turn forms take function would probably take us back to the early years of kindergarten where we each experienced the straight line which in continuation formed the triangle, the square, the circle. The primary forms that have become the foundation of our own dimension. One that is visible within our own perception of space for which without those particular forms, space could not exist.

As a designer my concepts always relied upon taking geometry in its basic form and de-constructing it only to place it back to create a new parallel.
As a photographer my vision required me to capture that form and contain it within a frame.

Was one art becoming the contradicting mirror of the next?

"Space. The continual becoming: invisible fountain from which all rhythms flow and to which they must pass. Beyond time or infinity" Frank Lloyd Wright 1932

Departure from what was to the identity of others arising

It is shadow that reveals the form and texture of objects. Evaluating the roles in which light and shadow play invited me to explore a new realm in the perception of space.
Focusing on the quality of light, the study of form, line and colour, experimenting with tactile qualities, playing about with contrasts of shape and proportion I was able to further understand their relationship better and also the way in which they embraced each other. The way surfaces and materials flow into each other, some accepting light and others refusing it. An amalgamation of elements contributing to our understanding of the spirit we find in nature, which makes it a very important part in our lives.

By further developing my research and processing the results I became aware of an original persona, of a true form under its own self, an invisible geometry.
Each piece was able to contain light in a way that is not possible to duplicate in natural surroundings. Each piece is an explosion of form within space. The frame is no longer visible, an act of play generating movement under a theatre of light beyond the parallel.

The audience is given the freedom to express, to construct a parallel journey through each piece. Each one seen is not a final unto its own. It carries with it a reality where it ensures that more than one translation of the image is possible. It changes our psychology in the way we perceive space and the way it interrelates with us. It evokes and triggers off our senses and in turn has a critical impact on mood and atmosphere. Each image creates a different drama; it can excite us or soothe us, intimidate and alarm us or make us feel safe and secure. Yet it is not about the effect but more about the nature of visual language, which in its turn frees us from the constraints of fixed boundaries of cultural references.
